This handsome Georgian rectory farmhouse ticked every box for the family who bought it... except a great big sociable kitchen diner for whopping get togethers and entertaining friends. So together we devised a plan to build an expansive orangery type addition, in keeping with the nature of the building, to achieve those goals.
The build was complex, jumping through multiple Listed Building planning hoops and introducing all the requisite power and drainage demands of a capacious modern family kitchen. But the expansive finished space will sustain this big brood's togetherness for years to come.
" The original kitchen on the first floor was just too constrained. And we longed for a big bright vibrant space to cook, mingle and relax in.
Together with Cid and David Salisbury we managed just that. Plus the massive bonus of merging seamlessly with the garden and spilling onto the terrace as the mood and weather takes us.
The extension feels like it's always been here... though nobody agrees if it's a conservatory, orangery, garden room or anything else! "
